This article will walk you through the entire process of getting a Jordanian driving license, starting from visiting one of the several offices that deal with driver and vehicle licensing, to receiving a license that allows you to drive legally.
Which documents are you going to need?
Since you’ll need some papers before taking the test, you should prepare copies of the following documents before visiting the closest driver and vehicle licensing department:
- A valid passport, a civil ID, or a military appointment certificate
- A current, passport-sized, colored photo (4 x 6)
- Flag service book for males born in 1989 and above
- A competency certificate from a licensed academy that includes (20) theoretical and (40) practical classes
- If the foreign license is not in Arabic or English, it must be translated
Procedures for getting the license
After submitting the required documents to the licensing department, you can begin the following procedures:=
- Reach out to the Public Service Office to get a service submission form
- Once completed and included with all the required documents, the form must be given to the public employee for preliminary verification
- Take the medical checkup to seal the transaction
- If you have a license in another category, you should confirm that you are free of any current fines
- Comprehensive employee review for paying the prescribed fees
Theoretical Examination
The theoretical exam tests a driver’s grasp of the road laws. If you successfully pass the examination, you can schedule a time for the practical exam. If you failed, the theoretical exam must be taken again at least two weeks after the required fees have been paid.
The Practical Exam: Step by Step
The examiner employs the following criteria to evaluate a driver’s ability to pass the practical test and perform successfully in real-world driving situations:
- Starting the car and moving
- Using the right gear shift
- Dealing with traffic elements
- Parking and sudden stops
- Following traffic signs, traffic lights, and lanes
- Following priorities and cross-roads rules
- Dealing with road curves and turns
- Dealing with road heights and slopes
- Overtaking cars
- Turning, Reversing, and Parking
If you don’t pass, the Chairman of the Practical Examination Committee will inform you of the mistakes you made during the test. You then have the option to reapply for the exam at least 14 days after paying the required fees.
If you pass the exam, the transaction is given to the receptionist by the chairman and committee member. Check with the comprehensive employee to meet the set fees and issue the license.
